Crane Rope End Terminations
Re-terminating Crane Ropes with Resin Button Sockets is something that Crane Ropes Australia do for our customers on a regular basis.
Our technicians complete these either in house when getting new ropes ready, or on site where a small section of the rope has been damaged and needs resocketing.
The main process for these sockets involves the use of Wirelock, which is a cold resin socketing compound for use with wire ropes. Firstly the wire rope is served and then a section of the wire rope is unwound so that it looks like a brush made up of individual wires. The socket is then pulled over the splayed wires and the resin is poured into the bowl of the socket.
Prior, during and post process there is a number of checks that are required to be performed to ensure that the work has been completed as per manufacturers specifications. Load testing is one of the processes that must be completed prior to the rope being put back into service.
Below are some pictures of a socket that was completed onsite for a customer. If this is a service that Crane Ropes Australia can help you out with, please contact the team for further information at wirerope@craneropesaustralia.com.au
